De Bruyn is back in the Cape following a 3-year stint with Distell in London as regional business manager for Western Europe and Scandinavia. He grew up on the family wine farm Groenland in the Bottelary Hills and went on to study law at the University of Stellenbosch, obtaining BA, LLB and LLM degrees. After being admitted as attorney, he left legal practice to join Distell where he worked for 9 years across various disciplines.
De Bruyn lives in Paarl with his wife Marilise and son Jacques-Hendri and joined KWV in 2010.
His CWM´s dissertation focused on global warming´s future impact on wine style and terroir.
