Ginette de Fleuriot is based in Cape Town and works as the wine buyer at Winesense.
She began her career in wine in Germany where she gained invaluable experience of international wines whilst managing a specialist wine retail store in Cologne. Hosting international wine events and tastings was certainly the highlight of this period. Originally a teacher by profession, Ginette later left wine retail to focus on wine education and training for sommeliers and the wine trade. Ginette returned to South Africa in 2006 and since then has lectured for the Cape Wine Academy and served on a number of wine assessment and judging panels including WINE magazine, Grape, Fynproe and the 2008 SAA Wine Selection panel. She served as a contributor to the Platter Wine Guide in the 2007 and 2008 editions. Whilst in Europe, Ginette worked as a wine judge and freelance journalist for publications including Gault Millau WeinGuide Deutschland and Selection Wine Magazine.
Ginette's areas of special interest include German and Italian wines, Burgundy, Champagne and wine tourism.
